The book

The visual language captures those precious, slowed-down moments in which time and space fade into the background. At the center of the square composition sits a young woman in a summery dress, completely absorbed in the pages of an open book. Placed in a sun-drenched, open window alcove with a vast view of the tranquil sea, the motif conveys Mediterranean serenity and timeless intimacy. The scene is complemented by a still life consisting of a red wine bottle and a filled glass on the ledge—classic attributes of contemplative pleasure. Roger Ziereisen models the painting with a thick, impasto-like texture on the walls and shutters, making the warm light of the south haptically tangible and forming a charming contrast to the fine detail of the figure.
