Katja Nordmeyer

Katja Nordmeyer is a freelance artist from Hamburg whose multifaceted abstract painting captivates with haptic elevation and profound themes. Using special trowel compounds, crack effects, and unusual substrates such as perforated aluminum sheets, she addresses nature, the threat to the environment, and the classic motif of transience (Vanitas).

Artistic Education & Tradition

Katja Nordmeyer lives and works in Hamburg. Her solid artistic foundation is based on many years of studying free painting – including with the respected artist Lothar Schulz-Goldap, who in turn was a student of Prof. Fritz Mackensen (co-founder of the Worpswede artists' colony). This close connection to masterful tradition she combines with a completely free, modern formal language.

Style & "Vanitas" Series: Relief-like Crack Structures on Aluminum

In her abstract works, Katja Nordmeyer intensively explores nature as the cornerstone of life and its threat. A milestone in her work is her series "Vanitas", in which she makes the theme of transience palpable:

  • Special Spatula Technique: The targeted use of structuring trowel compounds creates expressive cracks and craquelure textures.
  • Unusual Supports: In addition to classic canvas, she uses perforated aluminum sheets as a substrate, merging industrial and organic elements.
  • Relief-like Character: Her artworks possess a haptic three-dimensionality that casts dynamic shadows depending on the incidence of light.

Exhibitions & Commissioned Art for Companies and Private Clients

Katja Nordmeyer's works are shown in numerous exhibitions – predominantly in northern Germany. Her collectors and clients include both private art lovers and companies within the framework of corporate art concepts.
