Claudia Tejeda (born 1981) is a German-Argentinian artist, photo designer, and multichannel artist from Hamburg. In her works, she creates a modern, urban metropolitan mysticism – a fascinating fusion of surreal ethnic painting, expressive street photography, and the energy of the electronic music scene.
Education & Indigenous Roots
From 2005 to 2008, Claudia Tejeda studied Communication Design with a focus on illustration at the renowned Bildkunst Akademie in Hamburg. A key to her visual language lies in the indigenous roots of her Argentinian father: From early childhood, she intensely engaged with the art and culture of South America, which she reinterprets in a contemporary way in her current works.
Style & Influences: From Street Photography to Club Culture
As a versatile multichannel artist, Tejeda combines different media and worlds into bizarre, surreal Gesamtkunstwerke:
- Surreal Ethno-Fusion: Bizarre figures, surrounded by explosive color swirls and indigenous symbolism.
- Street Photography & Urban Mysticism: Photographic impressions from her travels through world metropolises such as New York, Amsterdam, and Buenos Aires.
- Club Culture & Electronic Music: Aesthetic influences from the electronic music scene and her experiences in Hamburg's nightlife.
International Exhibitions & Curation
Claudia Tejeda has curated many of her own exhibitions. Her works have been shown in numerous international group and solo exhibitions – including in art metropolises such as Miami, Barcelona, and New York.
